Joined up York is a network of York’s ‘movers and shakers’, holding monthly meetings, sharing knowledge, skills and support:
Whether you are representing an established local charity or are trying to get your idea up and running, everybody in our sector can benefit from some mutual support, guidance and knowledge sharing – with biscuits!
Forthcoming network meetings:
Date: Friday 23 August 2019
Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm (informal drop-in)
Location: Rowntree Park, Terry Ave, York.
The next session will be an informal meeting in the sunshine (fingers crossed!) at Rowntree Park. We will be meeting by the Reading Cafe, but don’t worry, we will post updates of where to find us nearer the time, on the Joined up York Facebook page, and on Twitter. Drop by, enjoy a break in the sunshine, and say hello to some like-minded, local people.
Why we set up Joined up York:
York is full of great people doing great stuff. From football clubs to choirs, from community allotments to support for homeless people, our city really knows how to make things happen. But recent research showed that smaller groups feel isolated; they said that it is hard to access support/advice or to be heard. Many people said that a gap is emerging between established groups and a new generation of activists. Skills and knowledge (eg traditional charities’ knowledge of governance and new groups’ understanding of social media) are not shared – missing opportunities for everyone. So we’re offering some space to create more connections so that more good stuff can happen in York.
Who is it for?
Local groups/projects, social & environmental activists, anyone with ideas that can make life better for people in York.
What to expect?
Discussions, information, skills and resource sharing, peer support, and a forum for groups to develop a collective voice on the really important issues (and free refreshments!)
What to bring?
Your ideas, enthusiasm, experiences, questions.
It’s been fantastic meeting so many of York’s ‘movers and shakers’ at Joined up York networking events so far this year. There will be Joined up York events throughout 2019, so plenty of chances to get involved… let’s get together to plan a joined up York.
